The laptop has radeon IGP m embedded and a conexant audio interface. This includes a large number of older HP notebooks, encluding the nx, and evo models. If they are not available from eMachines, then I would say the M is not Vista compatible. However, the hardware abstraction layer is significantly more different in Windows 7 then windows vista, and even more so in Windows XP, so there will be cases where this chipset may work in vista but not in windows 7.
